About the program

The Künstlerhaus Bethanien is an international cultural center in Berlin. An artist-in-residence programme with workspaces for professional artists and exhibition spaces, it is dedicated to the advancement of contemporary visual arts. As part of its residency scheme, it aims to establish a lively dialogue between artists from various backgrounds and disciplines, and the public at large. Künstlerhaus Bethanien is one of the oldest International Residency Programmes. In its more than 50 years history, Künstlerhaus Bethanien hosted more than 1.000 guests and artists.

Location

The history of Künstlerhaus Bethanien is closely linked to the historical Bethanien, an architecturally unique ensemble of buildings on Mariannenplatz in the Berlin borough of Kreuzberg. However, since 2010 Künstlerhaus Bethanien has had a new location in Kottbusser Strasse, at the border between the two Berlin boroughs of Kreuzberg and Neukölln.
