About the program

The Cité internationale des arts is a residency centre that brings artists and culture professionals together in the heart of Paris, allowing them to work on creative projects or carry out research project in all disciplines.
The Cité internationale des arts provides an environment that is conducive to creativity by hosting residents for periods of two months to one year and facilitating contacts with arts and culture professionals.
Residents receive personalised support and assistance from the Cité internationale des arts team at its two sites: in the Marais (18 rue de l’Hôtel de Ville, 75004 Paris) and Montmartre (24 rue Norvins, 75018 Paris). Each residency is an opportunity to meet and exchange with more than 300 artists and culture professionals of all generations, nationalities and disciplines.
In collaboration with its many partners, the Cité internationale des arts calls for applications on specific themes and/or projects several times a year.

Accommodation information

Live-in are furnished and equipped for one person. All bedding is supplied by the Cité internationale des arts. WIFi included. 2 people max can be hosted in one studio (+ 1 child up to 7 years of age).

Studio information

Live-in studios provided as part of all programs have a surface area of between 25 and 60 m2.

Technical information

Exhibition space, auditorium (with pianos and a pipe organ), collective studios for photography, ceramic, lithography etc.

What the AiR provides

If your residency is supported by a partner of the Cité internationale des arts, you will receive financial support from this partner (see the terms and conditions of the residency programs currently open)

What the Artist pays

In 2022, the amount of the monthly fee is a minimum of 590 €, depending on the surface area of the live-in studio. A resident may be accompanied by an adult and/or a child (under the age of 7), in which case a supplement is payable.

Outcome

The artist are welcomed in residency on a basis where freedom prevails: no obligation to make a restitution at the end of her or his residency, but she/he can consider making an Open Studio (or more if the work is more complete). Cité internationale des arts allows the artist to present her/his work through concerts, exhibitions, shows, screenings, etc in the different presentation spaces of the Cité.
