From San Francisco we welcome Eungie Joo, who will speak about her early years as a curator, and the particular interests and approaches she has cultivated during her career. The talk will have no set theme; expect instead a free and frank, wide-ranging discussion covering everything from what made Joo want to be a curator, to projects from her student and immediate post-graduation years, differences between independent activities and curatorial praxis within institutional frameworks, and her experiences with the numerous art festivals she has been involved with. The second half of the talk will take an open interview format incorporating questions from the audience.
Venue: Aoi Park, North side of the Kamogawa River Delta (Shimogamo-Miyakawacho, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto)
Capacity: Approx. 30 persons / first-come, first-served (no advance registration required)
