Research theme ：

My research at ICA Kyoto will focus on Hirokazu Kosaka, a Wakayama-born artist based in Los Angeles.

Outline ：

I will be analyzing the relationship between institutional critique and Shingon Buddhism in Soleares (1973-74), the culminating work of Kosaka's early body art period. I will also be researching Kosaka's connections to artists from the Kansai area including Saburo Murakami, Shozo Shimamoto, and Kikuo Mori.
